| What Else Could It Become? |
Dear Građevinsko – arhitektonski fakultet u Nišu team,
New ideas do not always start from scratch. Sometimes they begin by looking at something familiar and asking: what else could it become?
This edition follows that idea across different scales: buildings that continue to evolve, colour used with purpose, historic street paving reimagined as a contemporary floor, and a 19th-century beach basket given a new life outdoors.
Different scales, different disciplines, but a shared impulse to rethink what is already there.
And it leaves us with one more question: what is taking shape in your studio?
| What Buildings Become Next |
What if architecture is not defined by what a building is at completion, but by what it can become afterwards? What Buildings Become Next considers architecture as something that continues to evolve with time, use and changing needs.
Colour can do much more than decorate. Colour with a Reason looks at interiors where colour guides movement, defines new interventions and becomes part of the architecture itself.

A Beach Basket, Reimagined
Cabrio, designed by Dirk Wynants for Extremis, reinterprets the 19th-century Strandkorb, or beach basket, as a contemporary two-seater outdoor sofa. Its adjustable soft top moves between open views and sheltered comfort, giving a familiar typology a new life outdoors. Recognised with the BIG SEE Product Design Award 2026 Grand Prix.

When the Street Becomes a Floor
Trafic →, designed by Marc Sadler for Listone Giordano, reinterprets the end-grain wooden paving once used on the streets of London, Paris and New York as a contemporary parquet surface. A dialogue between material history and the way we build today.
Companies that present their innovations at a trade show keep them featured on the BIG SEE platform year-round.
